\r\nNeill Herring will speak at\r\n\r\nSouth Georgia Growing Local 2014<\/a>\r\nabout conservation issues at the Georgia General Assembly.\r\n

\r\nHere’s\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nNeill speaking at\r\n\r\nWWALS Watershed Coalition in Tifton in August<\/a>,\r\nat which he remarked about citizens of Georgia:\r\n

\r\n“…these natural resources particularly the water systems are their\r\nprivate property, they have a property interest in the water.”\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nThe typical image of a lobbyist is someone in an expensive suit who\r\nlavishes lawmakers with expensive dinners and who lives in a big\r\nhouse with an enormous master bedroom. Not Neill Herring, who\r\nhandles governmental affairs for the Sierra Club at the Georgia\r\nCapitol. Herring lives in downtown Jesup and sleeps on the porch. “I\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nbelieve it keeps you from getting colds,” he said. Even last winter,\r\nwhen overnight temperatures got into the 20s? “I just add blankets,”\r\nhe said.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nBorn in Dalton GA in 1947, public schools there, graduated GA State College in 1969.\r\nWorked as a carpenter until mid 1980s, started lobbying at GA Gen Assy in \r\n1980. Work mostly for conservation and environmental organizations.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n
