\r\n\r\nKen Corbett doesn’t have to worry about succession planning. He\r\nknows who will lead his farm in the future: his sons, Justin, 26,\r\nwho is the farm manager; Jared, 21, who is in charge of the packing\r\nshed; and Jessica Bolesta, 25, who has taken the reins of the\r\nfamily’s agritainment business, Raisin’ Cane….\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nThe Corbett family wasn’t content to simply grow, pack, and ship\r\nbell pepper, eggplant, squash, zucchini, and cucumbers. In fact, it\r\nwas Ken and Kim Corbett’s daughter, Jessica, who saw a need for an\r\nagritainment operation, and so Raisin’ Cane was started in the fall\r\nof 2013.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nLocated near Valdosta, GA, Raisin’ Cane features a corn maze, farm\r\n\r\nanimals, hay rides, a playground, and a produce market and bakery.\r\nThe Corbetts have already entertained numerous school field trips in\r\nthe short time the operation has been open.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nThe plan is to have the market and bakery open year-round and field\r\ntrips will be scheduled throughout the school year, by appointment.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nAccording to Ken, so far, the operation has far exceeded the\r\nfamily’s expectations. “A generation ago, pretty much everyone\r\nhad a grandfather running a farm so they were exposed to\r\nagriculture. That is not the case anymore,” he explains.\r\n“It is a life we take for granted — living on the\r\nfarm— until you see someone who has never been to a farm come\r\nand enjoy it.”\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nThey had a ribbon cutting for Raisin’ Cane\r\n\r\n17 October 2013<\/a>.\r\nGeorgia Agriculture Commissioner\r\n\r\nGary Black<\/a> spoke.\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n

\r\nIn November, Raisin’ Cane\r\n\r\ngot a trust deed with the county<\/a>\r\nso they can have a chlorinated drinking fountain for school children.\r\n
