\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nOur outing today to the canning plant was a grand success. We had peas shelled, blanched and bagged and canned some peaches!\r\n<\/p>

\r\nThe canning plant at Lowndes High School is a wonderful resource\r\nin Lowndes County open now to the public for shelling, canning and\r\nmore. Behind the Lowndes High School on Norman Drive.\r\n<\/p>

\r\n\r\n\"300x225<\/a>\r\nSummertime means fresh vegetable time, which means it’s time for\r\ncanning. And just in time, the Lowndes County School’s annual Food\r\nProcessing Center and Canning Plant is open for business and\r\nwelcoming customers.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nWhether you need shelling, blanching, canning, jarring or peach\r\npeeling, the processing center offers it. There are facilities\r\navailable to cook large amounts of soups, jellies, stews, boiled\r\npeanuts, etc. It also has an industrial-grade juicer.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<\/p>

\r\n\r\n\"300x225<\/a>\r\nThe processing center is open 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays,\r\nFridays and Saturdays. The center will be open through July 16, but\r\nwill be closed on July 7 and 9.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nThe plant is located northwest of Martin Stadium by Interstate 75 at\r\nthe north end of Lowndes High School’s student parking lot and the\r\nsouth end of the main Lowndes High School building.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
