Withlacoochee River, GA 122, 2006-11-05 by Cathy Reaves Quarterman<\/a>\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\nHe inherited his parents’ love for reading and his grandmother’s egg\r\nbusiness, which led to a lifelong interest in farming and nutrition.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
\r\nHe graduated from Hahira High School and received a B.S. degree in\r\nphysics from Valdosta State College. He served four years in the\r\nU.S. Navy including in the Mediterranean Sea, and had the rank of\r\nLieutenant J.G.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
\r\nHe attended the University of Georgia in Athens, and worked in the\r\ncomputing center there.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
\r\nWith his aunts Jane Sinclair Quarterman Comer and Elsie Quarterman\r\nand his brothers, he published Quarterman Family of Liberty County,\r\nGeorgia, and Relatives, 990 pages of family history covering more\r\nthan 350 years. He assisted with an Irwin family history. He camped\r\nwith family at the summer Grandfather Highland Games, where his\r\ndaughter Peggy was the first female to march in the parade, on her\r\nfather’s shoulders, with Clan Sinclair.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
\r\nHe retired\r\n\r\n to the family homestead with his wife Cathy Reaves, whom\r\nhe married October 28, 2000. He was well known in the community for\r\nhis intelligence and wit, and as a loving, devoted, husband and\r\nfather. After a long decline, he died in the presence of his wife,\r\ndaughter, grandchildren, brothers, and their wives at The Orchard at\r\nStone Creek in Lowndes County, on November 3, 2021.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
\r\nHe is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, aunts, and\r\nuncles.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
\r\nDavid is survived by his wife, Cathy Reaves Quarterman of Hahira,\r\nhis daughter Margaret Campbell Quarterman Stewart (Garner), his\r\ngrandchildren Margaret Sinclair Hamilton Stewart and Graden Campbell\r\nHargreaves Stewart, all of Bumpass Virginia, his brothers Stephen\r\nPatrick (Ann) and nephew David Nicholas Quarterman, both of\r\nNashville, Tennessee, his brother John Sinclair (Gretchen) of\r\nLowndes County, many cousins, and brother-in-law, Don Reaves (Diane)\r\nof St. Augustine, Florida.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
\r\nDavid will be laid to rest at a graveside service at Friendship\r\nCemetery, 6571 Union Road, Hahira, GA on Friday, November 5, 2021,\r\nat one p. m. with Reverend Mike Davis officiating. The family will\r\nreceive friends from noon until one p.m. at the cemetery.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
