\r\nAnother successful prescribed burn at the end of 2022.\r\n

\r\nThis was actually the burn of the area in which the\r\nTreat’s Rain Lilies have since come up<\/a>, six weeks later.\r\n

\r\nThere’s more to do if we ever get good conditions again,\r\nas in dry for enough days after a rain.\r\n

\r\nFor those who are not familiar with prescribed burns,\r\nthey are necessary to the health of pine forests.\r\nPine trees, especially longleaf pine trees, are more resistant\r\nto fire than other trees.\r\nSo burns favor pines, and without burning, oaks, sweetgums, etc. take over.\r\nAnd burning temporarily cuts back the gallberry, blackberry, and Smilax vine thickets that get too thick for wildlife.\r\nQuail and other birds have already moved into areas of previous burns.\r\n
