\r\nYet another clearing task after Hurricane Helene: get that cherry tree off the corn crib roof.\r\n

\r\nIt was a nice Prunus serotina<\/em>, but it would not survive like that,\r\nand we could not leave it to cause more damage during the next big storm.\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\nFortunately, it did not actually puncture the roof.\r\n

\r\nI do not like climbing on roofs.\r\nI do like a rope if I must climb.\r\n

\r\nMy little finger is a sixteen-foot cypress pole from our cypress swamp.\r\nLight and long.\r\n

\r\nThere was a log more sawing to cut the top down to bits to toss aside\r\nand bigger bits for woodworking or firewood.\r\n

\r\nI was using an EGO electric\r\n18-inch chainsaw<\/a>.\r\nVery nice.\r\nNo gas, gas lines, gas filter, carburetor, or air filter to clog up.\r\nAnd this model has a chain auto-tightener that lasts long.\r\n

\r\nNaturally the big piece leaned against the corn crib.\r\nBut the rope worked to get it loose.\r\n

\r\nThere was more to do on the ground to get the bits out of the way.\r\n
