\r\nHurricane Helene, or maybe the ice storm after,\r\nbroke off a woods spigot.\r\n

\r\nIt was a little more complicated to fix than expected.\r\n

\r\nI got a replacement part and cut below the break.\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\nWell, that did not work, as you can see by the glue pushed down unevenly.\r\n

\r\nThe end was not round.\r\nI figured the cutting tool had done that.\r\nSo I got pliers and tried rounding it.\r\nIt’s 1,000 feet round trip to the workshop and back.\r\n

\r\nNope, still wouldn’t fit.\r\n

\r\nFinally I noticed a foot-long blister on one side.\r\n

\r\nSo I got the cutting tool again.\r\nAnother 1,000-foot round trip.\r\n

\r\nOK, that end is round.\r\n

\r\nAfter five round-trips, which plus a few side excursions means\r\nI walked a mile doing this simple chore.\r\n

\r\nSteps are good, but the moral is:\r\nkeep all the tools handy until the job is completely finished.\r\n

\r\nHere’s the fixed spigot, with banana-colored Blondie dog for scale.\r\n

\r\nI’m leaving those and many other deadfalls for the lumber salvage to get.\r\nWhenever they get to us after all the larger landowners\r\nwho also have Hurricane Helene deadfalls.\r\n
