\r\nFor a dozen years, Lowndes County, Georgia, has had it as “one of our top priorities” to get broadband Internet services to more of its people.\r\n

\r\nCould it finally be happening?\r\n

\r\nA month ago I noticed these odd markings on the road out front:\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\nDown the road, this was a clue:\r\n

\r\nI asked these guys, and they said it was AT&T putting in fiber optic broadband cable.\r\n

\r\nThey were still polishing their work three weeks later.\r\n

\r\nThis is what I think they called a flower pot.\r\nIt’s where we can tap in to the cable.\r\n

\r\nSure, and it’s 2500 feet up our driveway to our farm workshop.\r\nWhen we got AT&T DSL put in many years ago,\r\nwe had to pay them to run it up there.\r\nIf we must, we can do that again.\r\n

\r\nSo far all I get is “may be available”\r\nand\r\n“Call us at 866.232.3667”\r\n

\r\nHowever, it does have a form to\r\n“Sign up to be notified of any home internet products, including\r\nAT&T Fiber®, available at your address.”\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nI suppose I could use more junk mail, so I signed up.\r\n
