\r\nTwenty one species in a thousand feet down the Not-a-Driveway from piney woods through seepage slope to beaver pond.\r\n

\r\nPlus Canis familiaris<\/em> and garden variety human.\r\nWhile we did not see any beaver, Castor canadensis<\/em>,\r\nthere was quite a bit of evidence of them.\r\n

\r\nSpecies identifications are by\r\nSeek by iNaturalist<\/a>,\r\nwhich is usually pretty reliable.\r\nI do doubt a few of them.\r\n

\r\nFor example, what seek identifies as Pineland hibiscus, Hibiscus aculeatus<\/em>,\r\nsure looks to me like halberd-leaf rosemallow, Hibiscus laevis<\/em>.\r\n

\r\nFar more species than these live in our subtropical paradise.\r\nThese are just the plants (and fungi) I happened to focus on today.\r\n
