Many people think Yellow Dog looks like a Carolina Dog, aka American Dingo, i.e., native local dog (native as in DNA indicates came to the Americas with the Indians). The tail’s not quite right, and she has chow-like black spots on her tongue. However, she and her sister Brown Dog do love to dig holes, hunt in packs, and pounce like foxes, and yes, that whip-like motion is what they do to snakes. They’re also both at the upper end of the Carolina Dog weight range (65 pounds). Brown Dog has the black and tan coloration, like this one, but has Brown Dog has floppy ears. So probably they’re mutts with some Carolina Dog in them.
