Gretchen and I burned some woods the last couple days.
Here’s why we burn: longleaf pine unharmed, while small trees of other species
(slash and loblolly pine, an especially oaks) are weeded out by the fire.

Day 1: Planted pines
Fall colors: poison ivy, fire, and snoke
Day 2: Natural pine forest
Gretchen with fire at the driveway
Burning just right
Fire near and far
Grass near, pinestraw there, burning
Why we burn: longleaf unharmed
Longleaf near and far
Wiregrass will come back soon
