Participants will learn how regular consumption of lacto-fermented vegetables provides beneficial bacteria to the intestinal tract and helps to keep us healthy. Food demo will include traditional method of preserving vegetables. Topics include:

  • The use of whey as a starter culture
  • Tools needed for fermenting
  • Making traditional sauerkraut
  • Fermenting other vegetables and such as carrots, red cabbage, beets

Jump-start your road to recovery or maintain your vigor by incorporating cultured foods in your diet. Fermenting is wicked simple and lots of fun. In this workshop Janisse will make sauerkraut, kefir, and kombucha. She’ll also talk about many other homemade cultured foods you can incorporate into your homestead or home kitchen for the benefit of you and your family, including cream fraiche, vinegar, and much more.
