The canopy road leading to the entrance of Old Dorchester State Park, South Carolina:
A previous landowner clearcut what was natural forest and replanted slash pine. Apparently nobody told
these longleaf not to sprout up from seed.
I don’t know where Dewdrop took this picture of a tree canopy, but it’s a good one.

Fred accidentally ran over a timber rattlesnake. It was still crawling. Maybe it’s OK.
In this picture of the Alamo Theatre in Valdosta in 1922, note the round windows in the brick front. Compare to the round window visible just past the Dosta marquee in the previous post. Is this the same building?

The small canopy at the southwest corner of Quarterman Road:
A remnant of the original longleaf pine forest.
This is a composite picture, since it’s hard to get the whole tree in a single frame.
Update: This tree was chopped down and burned in 2008 by the county in the name of progress.
